November 12 & 14 – Urban Food Planning
Hello everyone, I hope you’re doing well. This week, we’ll wrap up our discussion on indoor growing and explore how both indoor and outdoor food production can be integrated into urban planning to support food-sovereign communities.
We’ll draw on the readings to reflect on the following questions:
• How can cities be designed to foster food sovereignty through integrated food production?
• What kinds of infrastructure are needed?
• How can urban spaces be dedicated to growing food?
• How might we plan for abundant and resilient urban foodscapes?
Here’s the plan for the week:
1 – Introduction and check-in
2 – Indoor growing – Urban Food Planning – Hala (Wednesday)
3 – Urban Food Planning – Erik (Friday)
4 – Review Readings
5 – Questions, concerns?
