Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well. On October 1st, we will meet at the Duff-Court Urban Farm.
Here is a link to the farm via Google Maps
Here is a static map to the farm because Google Maps can be misleading
I will be at the farm between 10:30 am and 2:30 pm. Please show up for at least an hour and a half.
Tasks include:
1 – Weeding the perennial garden
2 – Basic plant maintenance
3 – Taking down plants that are no longer producing
4 – Sewing seeds for fall crops
5 – Planting bok choy
6 – Harvesting seeds
7 – Watering the farm
8 – Turning the compost pile
9 – Planting a gooseberry bush, goji bush and lavender plants
10 – Amending the garden beds
Once you complete your farm work, please take five plants from the scavenger hunt, observe them and take field notes about the plants. Try to prioritize plants that you will be writing about in your first blog assignment.
Download the scavenger hunt form here.
Please bring comfortable clothes that may get dirty, gardening gloves (if you want them), water to drink, a pen, paper, and a mask. Unfortunately, there are no bathrooms at the farm, so please make sure to take care of your needs before coming to the farm.
For those of you who could not make it to the farm and would like to get participation points, please write a 500 word summary of the farm as well as a 100 word summary of the virtual farm tour.
