March 25 – Alternative Lesson – Food Movements

Hello everyone, I hope this email reaches you before you leave for Concordia. I am still sick this morning and won’t be coming into class. Here’s how we will proceed.

1 – Please deposit your second assignments in my mailbox on the 11th floor at your earliest convenience or if you are not regularly on campus, please give it to me in class next week. Please DO NOT slide the assignment under my office door. I share that space with several other people.

2 – Please begin your final assignment by volunteering 5 hours for a community food organization (cooperative or non-profit). I will provide instructions for the final report, but in short, you will need to write an autoethnography linking your experience to some of the theories and examples from a Foodie’s Guide to Capitalism and/or The Serviceberry. You must provide at least 4 references 3 from the resources previously mentioned and one other from any class reading. The final report should be about 6oo words long. I will provide a grading rubric and more detailed explanation once I am feeling better. We will discuss a due date next class.

3 – I have pre-recorded lectures that were derived from a Foodie’s Guide to Capitalism. Please watch at least one of them. You may want to watch them all to understand more about the readings, but that’s up to you.
